Last Friday we ventured to the North Downs in search of fabled bare rock to put the Nutripouch through its paces as a liquid receptacle for climbers; who can be on a cliff face for hours at a time and may benefit from 250ml of water/juice/smoothie/yoghurt that fits into ever-contorting pockets.
An helpful internet page gave me a variety of rock faces in the area, and size + proximity led me to choose the rock face at Basset's Farm, Cowden, near Edenbridge. That was the easy part though: After a patient drive through the morning traffic of south London we arrived at the nearest train station, our only reference point. Thankfully, the kindly resident of the old station master's house at Cowden railway station let us borrow his Ordnance Survey Map so we could locate the tightly grouped contours that gave the wall's position away.
A short drive, a U-turn and a chat with a farmer later, we had found it. I had to conquer my mild fear of heights (fear of falling) to secure some rope onto a tree at the top to the yelled directions of Josh, our instructor for the day.
